Gregory Goyle
*he's a bundle of nerves after having had the most stressful day of his life* *Sally Anne (if that really is her name) is too fucking perky and she has to be evil, there's no other excuse for it* *the perk has to be hiding something* *something really bad*

*finds the shop where Mil works* *he needs to tell her he got a job so she can look for a flat* *and fuck, he forgot to ask how much he gets paid* *he'll have to ask Sally tomorrow* *god, he doesn't want to go back...* *or be seen in this store, for all the galleons in Gringotts*

*takes a deep breath and opens the door* *some chick is at the counter, chatting it up with some customers, taking her time handing them their bag* *looks out the corner of his eye at a display of crystals and controls the impulse to shove a fist through the protective glass, just to see the lot shatter* *blames the thought on the day he's having* *looks back at the chick when he hears the bell from the door rings*

*gruffly* Mil here?

*looks at his reflection in the mirror, poking at the skin around a fresh bruise near his right eye in the least manly way imaginable and winces* *tries to heal it, but only manages to spread the blue-green tinge* *he never was good at these things* *carelessly drops his wand on the bathroom counter with a clatter*

*remembers his mother’s voice, disappointed and menacing, punctuated by the kicks she would deliver to his stomach, sides and face – You must listen to your parents, Gregory. You must do as you are told. You must make us proud and help the Dark Lord. You don’t want what happened to Lucius to happen to your father, do you? You will respect this family and its heritage. You will do as you are told…* *his mother had always cared for him, been nice to him, done things for him, but since coming home from Hogwarts, this was the weekly ritual* *the mother he had known and loved was gone, replaced by a monster*

*slightly shaky hands turn on the cold water to splash some on his face* *wipes it dry with a dark green towel, pats gently to dry the bruise* *pulls on the skin around it and grimaces once more* Vince’ll know this one isn’t his.

*throws the dark green towel down on the counter* *grabs his wand on his way out and into his room* *slams the door, but still hears his mother’s voice following him – You WILL receive your Mark and you will be PROUD.*

*he's been searching for a job for what feels like forever* *walks back down Diagon Alley after having reached the other end* *he's going to have to look for a job in something else entirely* *maybe construction* *what if there's nothing Wizarding he could work in? he couldn't work in a Muggle shop*

*out of the corner of his eye, spots a "Help Wanted" sign he hadn't noticed earlier* *Quality Quidditch Supplies* *How could he have missed that?* *walks in and a bell tingles as he opens the door and again as it closes behind him, and the lady behind the counter looks up at him* *honestly caught off guard by the face-splitting grin* *stammers* H-hello. *gestures behind him* I saw- there was... a sign. *realises he sounds like a complete idiot and it hacks him off* *but he needs a job* *pathetically* I like Quidditch. *fuck, wonderful, that's a great start*

*walks down Diagon Alley, slip of paper in hand, looking for the Mystic Moon* *a little disoriented, but doesn't really mind; he'll find it eventually* *finally spots it a few shoppes down* *makes a face at the display* Mil doesn't work here. She can't work here. She would never work here. *peers into the shoppe through the window, between the rubbish on display, not wanting to have to set foot in there if he doesn't have to* *and even if he does, he might put up a fight* *still making the face* Jesus, tell me she doesn't work here.

*knocks once against Vincent's door and opens it without waiting for an invitation* *finds him lying in bed with Vinny settled against him, playing with his son's curls absentmindedly* *raises a brow at the show of tenderness* *closes the door behind him* *spots the stained and tattered shirt on the floor* *picks it up and shows it to Vincent, the question obvious on his face*
